The Village was packed for the 15th Port Jefferson Dickens Festival last weekend. Parking lots were jammed and many visitors and Victorian-era characters alike braved the frigid temperatures to enjoy a number of events from the lantern dedications to caroling to roasting marshmallows in Chandler Square over an open fire that served double duty as a hand warmer.
Danfords Victorian Brunch
Danfords Hotel & Marina held three seatings Sunday for its Victorian brunch, one more than during last year's festival, general manager Stewart Weiner said, and sold out three. Weiner said the hotel rooms were also sold out Saturday night, due in part to guests who came for the Dickens Festival. Sales were up all around, he said, and mentioned seeing customers, standing five deep at the bar. Compared to last year, Weiner estimated Danfords did an 8 to 10 percent increase in business.
