Wave Restaurant Captures Long Island Sound Views

A new restaurant whose name plays off the panoramic views of the Long Island Sound has opened at Danfords Hotel & Marina in Port Jefferson. At the Wave Restaurant & Lounge, diners can see the Sound from almost every table. Executive Chef Paul Govin serves an eclectic New American menu flavored with Italian, Asian, Latin American and Southwestern influences. Flavorful creations are paired with an extensive wine list.
Dante Paganini, owner of DEP Design in Huntington, N.Y. designed the interior space. A sense of history and nautical whimsy is evident throughout. In the lounge, brown and teal accents anchor the all-white interior where amber lighting complements brick façade. It is the starting point for a special evening, or a main venue for a light dinner. The tapas menu can be enjoyed at one of the 40-seats inside. The contemporary nautical theme continues into the dining room where existing heavy timber and woodworking have been reinvigorated in a wash of white and beige. Postcard-worthy vistas are framed by colorful images of sailing ships, while in season, al fresco guests enjoy sweeping views of Port Jefferson Harbor on the Admiral's Deck.
This New American eatery features an eclectic menu of flavor-rich cuisine showcasing seasonal selections and artisanal products including breads, farm-fresh cheeses and produce. Appetizers range from $5-$16 and include: Antipasto Melange, WAVE Salad field greens, walnuts, gorgonzola, onions, tomatoes, dried cherries and vinaigrette or Chef's Kettle (daily soup). Raw Bar and Sushi selections range from $7-$48 and include: Bento box (for two) with Tuna Nigiri, Wave Roll, Spicy Tuna Maki; The Wave Roll with Lobster, Avocado, Crab, Sesame, Cucumber, Tobiko and Ponzu or Seafood Plateau (for two). Entrees range from $25-$28 and include: Black Cod Char Sui and Organic Soha-Wakame Salad; Gorgonzola and Pine Nut Crusted Chilean Sea Bass; Sauteed Garlic-Shrimp and Grana Cake or Herb Rubbed New York Shell Steak. Desserts, priced from $7-$8 include: Ice Cream Sandwich Flight with Black Cherry, Tiramisu and Toasted Coconut Ice Cream, Warm Chocolate Raspberry Bread Pudding with Black Cherry Ice Cream or Grand Marnier Crème Brulee.
The restaurant seats 110 guests inside and 120 guests outside and is open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. VISA, MasterCard, Discover, Diner's Club and American Express are accepted.
